What's with the fish?
The fish is a common symbol of Christianity. It started a long time ago when Jesus' disciples drew a fish on rocks or in the ground so that other Christians would know that they had been there.
What does it mean?
The fish is a symbol for for Christians because Jesus said we are to be "fishers of men." You see, the first disciples were actually fisherman, but when they left to follow Jesus he told them that now they would catch men instead of fish. What He meant was that they would become the means by which other men and women come to God.
What does it mean to Me?
I am a born again Christian. Jesus died and rose again to save me from my sins. That may sound strange but it's true. There is no argument you could make to convince me otherwise. To me God is as real as the air I breathe because He has given me (and all believers) the gift of the Holy Spirit, which is also proof of the promise that Christ will return. Not only do I believe in Jesus because of the testimonies of the people in the Bible, but because I have the spirit of God in me. I honestly can't describe it that well, but SpiritHome.com can give you an idea.
What does it mean for you?
It's as easy or as hard as you want to make it. There is a God, He made us (humans) in his own image, and He loves us so much that He sent His only born son to die to save us. All you have to do is believe it and ask God to forgive you to be saved.
Why does anyone need to be "saved"?
Because we all sin. So what is sin? It's anything you do that isn't absolutely and completely perfect. The easiest way to know if you've sinned is to look at God's law- the Ten Commandments. Here's a couple. Have you ever (be honest):
- Lied? I don't know anyone who hasn't lied at least once as a kid. That makes us liars.
- Stole? Ever accidentally take a pen from someone and not give it back? That makes us thieves.
You get the idea- almost everything we do can be a sin if it isn't done in a loving and selfless manner. We've all messed up, and we all need it fixed, otherwise we'd go to hell forever. I don't want anyone to have to face that, which is why this page is here.
